“And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you (Luke 17:6).”
A mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds. The mustard seed is about 2mm in diameter, and ounce in weight and has approximately seventeen different nutrients to benefit the body. The mustard seed grows into one of the largest plants for food consumption.
Similarly, your faith starts off as a mustard seed and continues to grow until it fully blossoms. With this illustration, faith does not start off large; it starts small. Faith is not some grand explosion in the beginning. Faith grows and grows. Faith cannot be seen. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith does not allow you see things naturally. But you can see it spiritually. When we see it in the spirit, we see it complete. When we see it with our natural eyes, it is not seen as complete. God allows you to see it fully manifested from a small seed inside of you.
To grow your faith, you have to water it. You must continue to believe, do and work. The main requirement of faith is to work. “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also (James 2:26).” It is necessary to grow your faith large by believing, doing, and working. You can believe all day long but if you don’t work the vision that was given to you, it will not fully manifest.
