Proverbs 6:6-11: Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber. Poverty is a choice. We are not born with poverty. I know it is said that most wealthy people are born with silver spoons in their mouth. That is not true. Most wealthy people work their way out of the poverty condition into a wealthy state. Let me first say that I am not concentrating on wealth but I am concentrating on poverty. If you make choices inconsistent with progress, then you will end up in poverty. Look at the ants they avoid poverty by gathering food in the harvest and storing food in the summer. Their mindset never reaches to the poverty mentality. This brings me to the mindset that poverty happens when there is no plan. When there is no plan, poverty creeps upon you as a robber. Proverbs 6:11 states that poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. So what is your choice – poverty or wealth?
