“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. (John 15:4)”
Trying to do things without being connected to a source is difficult. Have you ever tried to use the toaster while it is unplugged or have you ever gone into your refrigerator and try to get some milk? How did it taste? You are probably saying that no toast and sour milk is the expected result. That is correct! However do we ever think about the fact that this applies to our life? Let me ask you a question. Who is your source? Who are you connected to? Who can protect you when no one else can? Some may say a mother, father, brother or sister. Some may say their best friend.
Jesus saith unto his disciple,” I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6)”. Jesus clearly states if you are going to get to God the Father you have to come through me. My assignment here is to get you to see that apart from Jesus, we cannot do anything that the Father desire for us to do. I know many of us are in our careers and have accomplished a lot. That’s great. But was it a mission called by God. Would God be happy with what we are producing? No, I am not saying that you have to be in full time Christian service, but if he called you to be a teacher and you are a dentist, did you accomplish God’s will.
The secret of fruitfulness is when we are connected to the vine. The vine is the support or the root of the plant of the tree. The vine carries all nutrients to the branch; there the branch begins to produce whatever it supposed to produce. The vine in this since is Jesus and he carries all power in his hand of healing, deliverance, mercy, grace, and prosperity. If we get to the vine, then we have the proper nutrients that we need to bear the fruit of God. A branch cannot bear fruit by itself because it would die because there is nothing feeding the branch. The vine cannot carry the oxygen to the branch because it is cutoff. We operate as the body of Jesus Christ who is the Son of God. He is our head. He gives us direction, nourishment, and sound advice to live our daily lives. Apart from the vine, we will die.
