He understood their condition and addressed their condition. He understood their physical need and then provided them with the spiritual meat that they needed.
The Luke 4:18 experience helps us to understand who Jesus was and who we really are. Jesus introduced himself as the anointed one in the temple not to just preach another message to the church but to reach the world with his message. His message came into different parts such as preaching, proclaiming freedom, providing healing and releasing those who were bound up. Jesus ministry was not just one sided. He had different parts to this ministry. He went out to see about the people. He understood their condition and addressed their condition. He understood their physical need and then provided them with the spiritual meat that they needed.
How do we view our selves in this scripture? Since we are to take on the mind of Christ. Our service and ministry must be similar to his whether it is testifying of God’s goodness, helping those who are in depression, praying for spiritual and natural needs. Reevaluate how we service people. Understand their needs and begin to address their needs. Addressing their needs is an open door for something great in their life. When Jesus healed the blind mind, it was not only a physical healing but it was a spiritual healing also. When Jesus fed the 5000, it was not only physical it was a spiritual need also. Ask God to show you how to meet people needs and watch him work in their lives.
